Wow. I had my gallbladder out a couple of years ago as well. The only stitches that I have found are ones around my nipples and a few that were on the inside. He closed the incisions with surgical glue and tape. I removed the tape after 5 - 7 days.
If you really want or need to have it done I would talk to a plastic surgeon and explain what happened with your gallbladder and maybe there is something else they can use.
I'm also treating an open wound right now but, I haven't had to pack it I've had to keep it moist. Hopefully it's almost better. My doc said that the bigger the reduction, the bigger chance of it happening. Even with a drain tube there was still an excessive amount of fluid and it had to go somewhere.
Anyway, I would still do it again.
