Does this seem alright?? Ok, some of you know that I was having trouble with my vet ripping me off. Well I changed vets and I absolutely LOVE my new vet! I am SO excited! She and her whole staff love both my babies. The vet even took down the name & number of my breeder because she is interested in getting one! I thought that was so flattering. The best part is that she has great prices. She went through the medical records from my old vet and pointed out the things they ripped me off on and told me that she does not do those sorts of things.
So, my question is, Hootie is 14 weeks old now and the next time she is due for shots is when she is 16 weeks old. I also need to get her spayed. The vet told me that I could bring her in when she was 16 weeks and get her spayed and her 16 week old shots all at the same time. I told her that I wanted to wait a little while to get her spayed bc I wanted to get her baby teeth pulled at the same time so I wouldn't have to put her under twice. She told me that the incidence of mammary cancer is increasing at a rapid rate and she wanted to get Hootie spayed at soon as possible, but that it was a good idea to pull the baby teeth at the same time so she wouldn't have to go under twice. But, she didn't want to charge me for an office visit in 2 weeks just to get shots. So, she told me to come back when Hootie's adult teeth started coming in, which would be in about 3 or 4 weeks. At that time, when she is 17-18 weeks old, she would spay her, pull all her baby teeth, and give her 16 wk shots all at the same time.
Does this sound plausible to ya'll?? That is a lot to put my little baby through all in one day. Is it ok for her to get baby teeth pulled if she doesn't have a big tooth in that place there yet? She will have some adult teeth, though. I'm not worried about her getting spayed earlier than 6 months bc the vet seemed completely confident in doing it early. Is it ok to give her shots the same day she has all the surgery? What do you guys think?? |
