I do not want to take over your thread but this got me thinking about another question...

breeder and buyer co-own a dog until it is finished. (Fine, understood). Owner breeds dog and relinquishes a pup (if stated in contract). Now it is said that then the dog will be signed fully over to the buyer/owner.

BUUUT, shouldn't the original breeder have stipulations in their contract to protect their lines from outside breedings until the dog is past breeding age? Is this a common practice?

Someone finishes a dog...fine and dandy...shouldn't something be in place to continue to protect that line from unwanted outside breedings? Shouldn't the original breeder still have say so as to who they can and cannot breed with?
