Definitely show Zoe even more attention if anything - it is important to make him feel like he is not being replaced. When you give treats - Zoe should receive his treat first, then Trooper (Trooper isn't going to get upset by this - he'll be happy just to get a treat!). Try to keep Zoe's routine as similar as possible. I brought home a new baby girl last monday and she sleeps in her ex-pen in my room and Oscar sleeps in my bed with me - just like he did before - I didn't want him to feel like he was being punished by putting him back down just because she came along. I try to focus a lot of attention on him - obviously it's hard when I've got a teeny puppy running around with her own needs too, but I make it work. After about a week I think you'll notice they'll start to get along better and play. I wouldn't bother separating toys - I think it would be impossible to 'govern' over the toys and whose toys are whose; they'll have fun fighting over them and having tug wars. |
