Okay, well this seems to be a rather sensitive subject. Look, all I am saying is that we should be able to take our "babies" with us. And I have 2 skinkids too! My son is scared of larger dogs, even though we had two. That doesn't mean that I immediately run out of petsmart when a pit walks in.
Now don't misunderstand. There should be restrictions. Why can I take my Daphne into a shopping center if she is in a bag or taxi suitable for air travel. That would take the "dangers" away. There would be no threat of injury to anyone. Now that means that a larger breed dog would be in a large crate but if someone's vet is 1 1/2 hours away from there house and the supermarket is in the same parking lot, why can't I go get what I need without fear of being kicked out of a store? I don't believe in breedism, so yes the regulations should be the same for small animals as it is for large. If the animal is contained enough for an airport, then it should be contained enough for a Target.
I'm not saying everybody should be an animal person, I'm just saying can't we all be a little more tolerant of other peoples life styles. Some of which include animals.
As far as allergies, come on people. Take the allergy meds you have and it'll all be okay. If you're allergic to oak do you stay inside all day with sulafane wrapped around every possible crack in your house? I myself refuse to live in a plastic bubble and so do most people. People that don't want animals in public because of allergies, normally just tend to be intolerant of animals in general.
JMHO!
Now with that said, I have snuck Daphne into Walmart, I have taken her to work with me on the weekend, to the daycare to pick my kids up. That's about all I've dared to do. |
