OK, if the breeder is experienced can you contact her and find out what day of the heat cycle the female is in. She will probably have a good idea of if the time is right or not. The female will not accept the dog for the entire time she is in her cycle. There is a standing heat period that she will allow him to mount and enter her. If they are both inexperienced, they probably will need help. As mentioned before, your vet should be able to help you there.
