Not sure of what is technically supposed to be done.... but when we have a dog that comes in with it here we find the antifungal sprays you can get for dogs and cats work pretty good and just ALWAYS are washing our hands.
I believe it just has to run it's course.
The first time we got it here with a dog the vet gave some stuff that didn't work so well so that's why we found the fungal spray ourselves ... which worked better. We actually haven't had a case hear in a few years so maybe some new stuff that works better has come out????????
