A stud fee should guarantee a litter, which is more than one puppy.

I wouldn't deal with these people. I can only see it leading to problems down the road. They should be grateful that you are giving him a second thought, not treating you like you owe them something.

Any fee can be negotiated, IMHO, half the fee is better than no fee at all.
