Mia's vet visit, some problems and lots of questions. Mia is 16 weeks old today, and we took her to the vet for her third set of shots. She weighs 4.5 lbs, and her overall health is not too bad. I am concerned about a couple of things though. For one, she has yeast infection in her ears, and we were given medicine for that. We will clean her ears with a special solution twice a day and give her ear drops. Poor babygirl. She likes her ears to get massaged after she gets the drops though. She is soooo cute.
She has not gained much weight since we got her. She was 3.5 lbs at 9 weeks, and now she is only 4.5 at 16 weeks. Is that enough weight gain? I did not think so. At least she gained some though.
The vet said absolutely no raw hides, because she said they have too many chemicals, and the dogs sometimes chew off large pieces. Instead she recommended Nylabone.
Also, the vet said that Mia's knee caps pop off??? I had never noticed that. The vet said Mia would not step on her leg if that happened, but Mia never ever had any problems like that. I have never seen her limp or not step on her foot properly. I hope it's not a big problem. It seemed like the vet was suggesting it was a problem we would have to deal with frequently. I am a bit worried. Does anyone else's Yorkie have the same problem?
Which brings me to my last question. I am thinking of buying Missing Link to supplement Mia's diet. Should I get the regular one, or the new one? Would the new formula they came up with help her with the knee cap problem?
We are going back to the vet's office in a week so they can see how her ears are doing. Meanwhile, I would appreciate any experiences, suggestions, opinions.
Thanks.
