I'm living alone right now (along with Max, my Yorkie) and have a maid come in every 3 weeks. I'm very neat, but she cleans up after me if I leave anything lying around. I used to have her every 2 weeks, but I don't need her that often. I also send the laundry out. I call, the guy comes and takes it, I call again and he brings it back clean. Life is good. The maid is $50 every 3 weeks for a 4 room apartment and the laundry is about $10 every 2 weeks.
I wash whatever needs to be by hand, which is easy enough.

I've always done this, married, single, when my daughter lived at home, etc. and always will. If your guys don't clean up after themselves, you might want to try throwing their stuff into their rooms and telling the maid not to bother cleaning in there. I tried that with my daughter (once she was old enough) until she quickly figured out that her laundry wasn't getting done.
