I grew up with a maid coming twice a week. My mom is a doctor and my dad is a professor at a university.....and my brother and I were in a million extracurricular activities. Anyway, we were expected to do basic things (clean our own bathroom, make our own bed, laundry in the hamper, wash our own dishes, etc...) but she would do the laundry and keep the entire house spotless. She was really cheap....like $80 a week for a 6,000 sq. ft. house plus laundry. I think it kept my parents (especially my mom) sane. I'm married now, so I don't need one....and truthfully, I don't mind cleaning, so I probably won't be hiring one unless absolutely necessary....
