Just watch the temperatures. If you are at the beach and there is a nice breeze with temps in the high 70's, you will be able to tell when he is getting tired or hot. Make sure you have lots of water with him (keeping Nutrical handy is probably a good idea as well). Bike riding would be cooler, depending on how you are going to transport him. If he is riding in a snuggly strapped to you, he will get some of your body heat and the heat of the bag as well. So remember if you are hot, chances are he is too.
