When I was working fulltime and my husband and I were both making good money, we had a woman who came once a week for 2-3 hours. She basically cleaned the whole house, including vacuuming, mopping floors and an occasional window. It cost us $60/week (1800 sq. foot house). However, we don't leave anything laying around. I'm not sure a cleaning person will pick up stuff laying on the floor. I "trained" my hubby and kids right from the beginning with laundry baskets in each closet. When you get undressed, the clothes go in the basket and only in the basket.
It was well worth paying someone to come home to a clean house and I really didn't do much in-between (maybe an occasional dusting or vacuuming). I hate housework and look forward to the day that I get my bills paid off so I can once again have this luxury!!!!
