Not necessarily. When you purchased the pup, you were not interested in breeding her. Then you got a male and they had puppies. AKC normally won't give you any information on the names or addresses of the breeders. The only time I have ever been able to get ANY information out of the AKC is when I am the OWNER of the dog. If your girl is not registered, or wasn't "litter registered" then they wouldn't know you from Adam. They won't give out info just "because". Probably the best thing for you to do is look through ALL of the paperwork you ever got on her. Maybe something will jog your memory. Or, when all else fails, you an register her CKC or APRI. AKC is a closed registry and they will not register puppies that both mother and father weren't registered AKC. Good luck jogging your memory. BTW did you get a shot record on her? Maybe the vets name is on it and you might be able to get some info from him/her? Or a bill of sale, any kind of contract? Cancelled check from you to the breeder?
Good luck,
Suz
