And no they may settle some as they mature, but they keep their fiesty and spunky ways. They just get better and better with age.

This sounds right to me. (based on my incredibly limited experience). When I look back at photos of Ginger, her colors have continued to change throughout the first two years, and her coat has gotten much nicer (very recently). She'll be two next month.
