PS - I wouldn't worry about your son too much. I can't imagine he's giving the dog THAT many leftovers and if he's only 1 year old, I imagine he's on a pretty balanced diet. Not that I know, because I don't have children, but I just always assumed that at that age they're still eating wholesome food.
Now, if your son was a teenager who was throwing chocolate bars and beer on the floor, I'd worry.
