Your son might be thinking he is being nice by feeding table scraps, but this can be fatal. Of course, he is waiting for the "good stuff". I would insist that he not get any human food. There are better choices out there than Puppy Chow. Look for a product that does not contain corn and has meat as a main ingredient (no by-products). Go to a petstore, not a grocery or department store. I use Nutro Natural Ultra. Start by offering the new food as a treat until he gets use to it so you don't upset his stomach by changing his food too quickly.

I would also start giving him Nutristat during this adjustment period since he might not be eating enough.

This question comes up very often and most will say Yorkies are very picky. I have owned Yorkies for 25 years and, honestly, I have never had a picky Yorkie. I don't know if I'm just lucky or am more disciplined in my feeding habits.
