Could very well be a dominance behaviour. But I would also have the male he is humping checked out by a Vet for impacted anal glands, bladder infections, or infections around the sheath or penis. Very often an infection will make them smell different then males will mount the dog with the infection.
If it is a dominance thing, you can try squirting him. I keep a spray bottle filled with water set to stream and anyone misbehaves they get a squirt. That usually puts an end to it. You could try that first.
