Angry grooming frustrations

Sorry in advance, I just need to vent! I have taken Jaxon to a couple of different groomers - the ones I really like are good, but they book so far in advance and I wanted to get him trimmed before we go away on Friday. I wasn't happy when I took him to the groomer at the vet - I swear they sedated him. He was so lethargic when I picked him up and brought him home. Today I dropped him off at 10am with a different groomer nearby. She has 20 years of experience and I figured it was worth a shot. I just called (it's now 1pm) and she figured another hour. She asked if that was ok and I said sure, I just don't like him being in a cage. She asked if I crated him and I said not really - I work from home so he's with me most of the day. She went on to tell me how I really should crate him and how they actually like it.

How long does it normally take for your babies to get groomed?? I just figure if they say drop him off at 10am, then they should start/finish him then. Not work on 3 others dogs at the same time. Maybe I'm overreacting - I just hate when Jaxon is gone and I worry so much.
