Have you looked into having a "petsitter" come over? That is what we do for our yorkies. They would be SO devistated if we boarded them, that we get a petsitter to come over to care for them when we go out of town. They feel much more confortable at their own house and the petsitter comes over to walk them, give them food and water, or whatever else needs to be done. I am sure if you look in the phonebook or something that you could find a great petsitter in your area.
