Do you have any veterinarians that are accupuncturists? We had a daschund with a herniated disc is the back and couldn't walk. She still had feeling in all limbs, but couldn't stand. After 3 accupuncture sessions and 2 weeks, she was slowing walking around. In about 2 more weeks you never knew she was hurt. That's been 4 years ago and she's never had another problem, other than old age. She's now 12 and slower, but you'd never know she had a back problem.
You might want to check into it, before you spend $$$$ on any surgery.
