I expect that your vet doesn't think that a potassium supplement is needed at this point or he would have prescribed it. He may have checked your dog's potassium level and it was fine.

However, to set your mind at ease, why don't you call and ask (or make an appointment). I would definitely do that before I'd start trying to remedy it on my own!
