I second that!!! I have not met a maltese that is not a cuddler or lap dog. I just got one myself and he is such a cuddle bug, he will sit there and cuddle with you all day!! And his coat is so easy to take care of. He has a silky coat and he only needs a bath once a week to keep his coat sparklingly white.
Chi's are great for one person, they tend to be loyal to one person. As long as you socialize them at a young age, they will be fine. Any Chi that you see that is mean was not socialized or was mistreated. With this breed it is very very important to socialize them or you can end up with one mean dog!!
Papillons are great too, a little pricey though, just like the cavaliers.
