Just to add a little bit more information about PETA, their founding principles are that animals should be totally and completely free. This sounds great on paper, but what it really means is that they feel ALL animals should be released from "imprisonment" by humans, and yes, that even means they are not in favor of people having pets of any kind....even your beloved Yorkie.

So when I see someone who loves (and has) pets, and is also a PETA member, it always seems quite contradictory. There seem to be much better organizations out there to stop puppy mills.

I typed "Stop Puppy Mills" in Google, and guess what? There's actually www.stoppuppymills.com

I know absolutely nothing about this organization, but their "Take Action" tab from the web site seems very good, and not one that is solely promotion for their own gain. They have some good steps of action listed here:
