I am new here, I own a Chihuahua and a Pomeranian and have been researching the Yorkies for a while now on the internet and books. I know I want one I have fallen in love with the breed. I have found a few breeders in my area, I have looked at one of the breeders puppies so far. I usually can tell about a puppy when they are small, but the yorkies confuse me a little... like how do I know what the colorings are going to be when they get bigger and I want a smaller one like 4lbs do you go by the parents? I looked at a male and a female the male is 12 weeks and very tiny she said it will be around 4 lbs. if that and the female is a little bigger(you can tell by looking) and she said she would be around 6-7lbs. Also what should their faces look like at this age(by standard I mean)? Her dogs are CKC registered, what is the difference in that and AKC(which is what my other two dogs are)? She gives a 1 yr. health guarantee. I have read that some can get eye problems(cataracts) is this very common? I haven't asked her if she had her breeders geneticly tested yet, if she hasn't should I buy from her? I like the smaller yorkies with the darker gray (not silver) on top as they get older how can i tell what these puppies will be? Also what texture should their fur be? Sorry for all of the questions at once but I figure you all know a lot and could help me. I plan on going to see the other breeder today but one of them has puppies that are only 2 weeks so I don't know if they will let me yet and I don't know if I can tell much about them at that age. I am a member on chihuahua-people.com and get a lot of info for my Chi there, so I am glad I found you guys. She is asking $899 that seems reasonable, is it? I have a female chi and a male pom they are both fixed, I was wanting a female(just so I don't fell wrong putting bows on a male) but it doesn't really matter to me, is there much difference in the sexes in a Yorkie? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
