If he will let you, carefully examine the leg by pressing gently on all parts from the top of the leg all the way to the foot/toes. If he whines, or pulls suddenly away, he is hurt and you should take him to the vet. If he doesn't do this, he may just limp for a while from the trauma. Good luck and keep us posted.
