We attach too many human emotions to our dogs..and they are animals.
If this girl is what you want in your breeding program..give her time to adjust, keep her away from the pups..her behavior has no bearing on her true temperament at this point.
My Kate is gentle as a lamb..but when Emee came I had no idea if she would be sweet with her..I introduced them at 12 weeks..Kate growled the first time Emee tried to get in her bed, then she ignored her, but by the next day they were doing well, and now they are glued to each other. Kate had never met a puppy..

LOL No problem! I have raised Poodles and Cockers and you hear horror stories about this or that female killing her own babies. Come to think of it, I have never heard one of these stories first hand. In fact I can't say I have heard one in years and years. Maybe I just confused the emotions from when I was younger and needed everyone's help as a wake up call. I have read that in a wild pack only the alpha female is allowed to have the puppies. When she came to me she was used to being the alpha. She has learned that I am the alpha here and I think she doesn't mind it. I have read that dogs who are alphas don't really want to be, that they want to be taken care of. I think that as loving as she is, she will adapt very well once she has her own babies. I have older puppies, 7 months old, she doesn't worry about them. They were very leery when the new puppies were born but the smallest came around best and helps her mom take care of the littler ones. The other two have come around enough to play with them but that's all. LOL Thanks for your interest, advice and help. Sylvia
