This is totally off topic.....
I live in the country -- we have a horse farm and raise miniature horses and quarter horses..... Neighbors are fairly widely spread out. Most of the neighbors have dogs who ROAM......
We do have leash laws, but that is beside the point.... folks in the country feel like they live in the country so that their dogs can have freedom. Ok so, we don't have a "dog fence - yet - that is our project for next week, a chain link fence around the front yard. The Yorkies are NEVER EVER allowed outside until and unless we have made a thorough check of the yard and pasture for dogs, hawks, etc.
But back to my anger..... this morning a pack of dogs (not wild dogs, but domestic pets) chased one of our beloved wild deer down and by the screams from the deer, I am guessing that they tore it to pieces. The whole episode took less than five minutes, and by the time I saw the deer run into the neighbors feild and then the dogs and then the screams -- it was too late for me to intervene.
I am almost afraid to let my baby horses out of the barn.
