In my experience a stud dog whether used for stud or not, left not neutered is a peeing machine. I am sure there are the exceptions.....and it may be only my experience. I am not a trainer.
I raised Siberians once, the male was used as a stud and he marked in the house if you didnt say "NO!" and follow him around. It was his nature. He was a stud dog. If you werent looking he would sneek it in!
I had a Shar pei not neutered male, who I rescued because he was going to be put down ( he didnt like kids at all) (way before I had kids, yrs ago) I absolutely adored this dog, he had never been used for stud, but he tried to mark everything!!!!!! After neuter he was a better with tons of work, but he remained wanting to mark corners and such. Ivory still wanted to run the countryside and was hit by a car going to the neighbors because they had a female dog in heat. This was after he was neutered too, but only 1 month after. Bad habits are hard to break. I did see alot of improvement in his peeing habit after neuter, and I think I would have been successful if I would not have allowed him out the front door without fencing. When Ivory went out a door, his head was down and off he went. He wouldnt respond to his name.
