Since you are gone for that long, perhaps an X-pen with a tarp or heavy plastic shower curtain spread underneath to protect your carpet. We sometimes use two pens to give Toto lots of room and also helps with that "caged" feeling! There is room for everything she needs ... food, water, bed, toys, wee wee pad and anything else that will make her happy. You could set it up with the door facing your balcony door and still give the baby access to your balcony and that "familiar" place to go. Regardless of the lengths to which we go to make Toto happy and comfortable, she still rebels and has "accidents" as if it's her only way to strike out when she is frustrated!! Good luck!
