 big dog vs. little dog - fighting or playing?
so here's the situation...
my boyfriend has an 18lb jack russell/hound mix male puppy who is almost 8 months old. i, on the other hand, have a barely 2 lb 10 week old female yorkie.
ideally, i would love for them to play together. on the other hand, i can't tell if they're fighting or playing. i don't know if i should be worried that the big puppy keeps opening it's mouth and sort of...nipping at my dog.
lexy, my yorkie, of course refuses to back down, and half the time i think she's having the time of her life. i just cannot tell if i should be worried that rosco (my bf's puppy) might unintentionally hurt her.
i want to leave them alone to "play", but my maternal instincts always makes me pull them apart and fuss over her. this seems to make rosco more excited because i am keeping something away from him.
help? how can i have them get along...or are they getting along already? |
