Default microchipping

They don't microchip anywhere in my city anymore. I was quite surprised to hear that as our last dog was microchipped and I just assumed that it was a reliable way to identify your dog. Apparently that's not the case.

For one, there are many different kinds of chips and all machines don't read all chips. Secondly, the chips have a tendency to migrate, so therefore are difficult if not sometimes impossible to find.

I wish there were a reliable way, other than tatooing, to identify my dog if he ever were separated from me.
