There's a product called "Get Serious" that works really well on old stains. just one thought though, make sure you cover the area with a dry towel or sheet after you clean with the cleaner. Until the carpet is completely dry and I mean all the way through to the under pad, it has to covered otherwise it will become a dirt magnet. That's probably what's been happening. It could even take a couple of days to dry in humid parts of the country. A carpet installer told me that trick and it really works! Good luck.
