I was a kennel supervisor for a humane society for more than three years. I was in charge of euthanizia. The cost to tax payers is nothing at humane societies because they are a non profit organizations and states and cites do not contribute any money to keep the shelter running. I worked close with the city animal shelter and the cost of feeding and housing was not much because the animals only stayed there for 3 days before being euthinized. I wish that this was a perfect world be it is not. The reality of this law is that the state/city will be making money. I bet they don't give anymore to the shelters. Euthinzia will still happen.
