How funny - your "cancellation fee." I work for a cardiologist - and often things happen in our office that are unexpected -- causing our doctors to have to rush to the hospital - which makes them unable or late to see a scheduled patient.
My doctor always pays his patients for their time. For example, if he is unable to see them - he pays them $20 an hour from the time they left home until they get back home. He says their time is as important to them as his is to him.
And - some of these people come from out of town - he has often paid for them to stay in a motel and dinner so he can see them the next day.
----- But the real funny thing is that most of these checks never get cashed - and the cancelled checks never come back to our office. Some of the patients have told me that they could never accept money when the doctor had to run to an emergency -- and several have told me that they thought that what he did was so great that they have framed the checks and have them hanging in their house to prove to their friends what a great doctor they have. Otherwise, they say their friends wouldn't believe that they got paid for not being seen.
Oh yes - we have had a few that laughingly say - Wow - he can not show up anytime he wants - this is the easiest money I ever made......
Whatever -- Life can be good at times - right!
