I am so sorry that you were treated like that. But I have to say
to you for being so mature about the situation!!
I, however, could not be that mature ina situation like that and I'm almost 30!!
I wish I'd seen the post earlier! My doctor did the same thing to me one and only one time. I showed up for my appointment, which wasn't an easy task as I had to get a sitter for my kids, when I got there, they didn't have me listed as having an appointment. Receptionist said that I would have to reschedule. I said "Sure. But that will be a $25 cancellation fee." She looked at me like I was crazy!! I talked to my doc and told him, you guys don't hesitate to charge me a cancellation fee, if it's less than 24 hours before the appointment, because of your inconvenience. So I deserve that same consideration. He agreed. Not only did he see me that day, he gave me $25!!!
Hopefully, there won't be a next time, but if there is, make sure to let them know that you have a cancellation fee, for your inconvenience!
