I don't really think its mistreatment as long as the dye isn't hurting the dogs. I personally don't like the look of it, so I would never do it. Although I did see a maltese who just had the tips of her ears pink and that was actually kind of cute. I put clothes on my dog and she seems like she's ok but I've seen many pics where the dog looks like "oh not this again" when it has clothes on. And as for the fashion statement question...Exactly what is the point of putting clothes on your dog?
