I was just at a log cabin last week staying with some friends, and Wosie almost immediately peed on the carpet. I ran and got her some "newborn" people diapers, and cut a hole for the tail. That way I did not have to worry.
One thing you need to be careful of is that the tiny grains that fall from the hole are actually meant to hold the urine from leaking out of the diaper. If you get them in the sink, they are nearly impossible to get out! (right, Deb?
