Litter box training was the best thing we did. Well we didn't really have a choice seeing as though we got him in December and he weighed 2 lbs. Not the best conditions to take him out in. But I will be the first to admit that it was a FULL TIME JOB trying to teach him. You can't take your eyes off the little guy. But eventually they get it. And I admit, he still has his accidents, still misses sometimes, but you'll find your own groove eventually and figure out what works for you. But the best part is not having to worry about taking him out when I know I'm going to be gone for a while. I've been several places with friends where they have had to leave and go let the dogs out or wake up at 3 am to let them out. My little guy sleeps with me and gets up by himself almost every night, runs downstiars, pees, comes back and goes right back to sleep. It's the best thing ever. When I go to sleep I shut all the other doors except mine and the bathroom where his pad is to make sure he doesn't go anywhere else. It's not an easy thing to do as you can tell by the many frustrated threads on it, but I am 100% happy that we did it. |
