Default New with questions

Hello,
My husband and I have fallen in love with Yorkies and would like to adopt a new baby in the fall. We've been doing some research on the net and ran across the site. Its very informative!

We currently have two indoor cats, a dachshund that is indoor/outdoor and a Springer who is outdoors. No kids other than our four legged ones! Our cats will probably mostly ignore the puppy other than an occasional hissing (they are both declawed). But we are curious about how others have been able to introduce their Yorkie when the cats "owned the house" first.

When we do get a Yorkie, our dachshund will likely have to transition to just outside. He is a sweetheart to us and is always good around his other cat and dog family members but he can be aggressive with strangers and we're unsure about he'll react to a new puppy. He enjoys being outside more than inside any way. We'll just have to play it by ear.

We have always had springers and dachshunds. I've read several posts about how expensive it is to care for a yorkie. I realize their grooming will be more extensive than with our current furbabies, but are there other considerations as well (as far as being more expensive than our current babies)?

Also, several breeders I have come across have mentioned in their contracts that they only guarantee their yorkies as pets and not for show or breeding. We have no intention to show or breed but is this a bad sign as far as the quality of their pups? The part about showing doesn't bother me as much as the statement about breeding.

I guess I've written enough for my 2nd post here! You'll probably be seeing a lot of me!
