I think I had to pack more things for Toby then I did for myself. Crate, bed, blanket, toys, treats, food, water, car seat, medical papers, leash, harness, shampoo, conditioner, comb, the list went on and on. Hubby wasn't sure there would be room for his own things.
Only one motel turned us away. In another week we will make the trip back home to Phoenix.
Good luck traveling.

We haven't taken a long-distance trip yet, but Bailey is in the car with us for 3 - 6 hours almost every Saturday. My wife is a garage sale addict and we take Bailey along. When we were getting ready to go last Saturday, she came to the conclusion that we did as much packing for Bailey for these outings as was ever required for a baby.
Bailey rides on the console between us and is happy as a lark. She'll stay there all morning long, enjoying the view and the ride. We've been careless and lucky so far - we haven't had her restrained when she's there. That's changing before Saturday. Expecting to get or make a restraint that goes around the back of the car seat and attaches to her harness. No matter how good your furbaby is and no matter how careful you are - unpleasant stuff happens out on the road!
