This happened to my Malt one time and his was out for about an hour.. I gave him a warm bath and um.. kinda massaged the area with a warm washcloth and it went back in almost right away. Sometimes it will just get too dry and not be able to retreat so moisture will usually help. If you try the warm bath and it still doesn't go back in then you might want to get the help of a vet.
