Sorry to hear he couldn't have surgery but it sounds like you vet is being very cautious which is a good thing. Liver enzymes can indicate a minor infection or problem. Since they are only slightly elevated it probably is something minor. I believe that the reason they to the liver and kidney tests before surgery is that it is an indication of how their body will react to anesthesia. You do not want to put an animal under if thesea re elevated. Keep us posted.
