Default LP Surgery

Hi Michelle,

If you are going through with the surgery I would recommend that you have just one leg done at a time. My little Alex was diagnosed with LP and he was a severe case. I initially had the surgery on both rear legs when he was 1 year old. He recovered and everything seemed fine for a couple of months and then he started limping again. Basically, the surgery was a failure at a cost of $1500.00. I got around to taking him to another specialist when I moved to Dallas. He said that he only believes in doing one leg at a time otherwise you will not get the benefits of full recovery or you will have a complete surgery failure altogether. Alex had his second surgery in March 2006 and he is doing great! However, it did cost me another $1000.00 but my dog is worth it. All I am saying is please take what I am saying into consideration. The surgery is successful if performed correctly. Please have your vet refer you to a canine orthopedic specialist.

Good Luck
