We have a wonderful 10 week old male yorkie. He is just great. Trying to potty train. Doing very well for 2 weeks in our house. We are crate training. He holds through the night very well. We take him outside first thing in the morning and he pees right way. A few minutes later he has to go number 2 but he gets a little crazy (excited) and just wants to go back in the house like he is done. He will hold it until he goes back in the house (after 15 minutes later) and as soon as I put him down to get his food he will try to go on the floor an it is back outside immediately. He fights tooth and nail to get back in the house. He will finially go outside but it is such a battle.
This is the easy part in the morning. His afternoon and evening breaks are a battle also. Any suggestions.
FYI, we have a fenced in area of the back yard for his potty area. We try to praise a lot. My wife gets frustrated because he will hold it outside for a very long time and she cannot sit out there that long. We watch him very closely when he gets back in but sometimes he will go on the floor. During the day he is allowed to walk the kitchen floor while we are in the kitchen. When we are not he goes in a small fenced in areas in the kitchen (4' x 4'). He very rarely will go in that area. Maybe an occasional pee.
Any suggestions?
Any brand of treats recommeneded for teaching sit, come and other directions.
Thank you.
