Default Safety in vehicles !

I believe ALL dogs should be harnessed and attached to the back seat belt at all times when riding in a car. Our girls have been trained from the start that the manner in which to ride in a car is to be safely hitched in, as we did our kids and do our grandkids. They are a "precious package" and therefore should be attached in the back seat. They will get used to the idea, small trips around the neighborhood might get them trained easier.
We have a small strap that one end attaches to the seat belt, while the other end of it attaches to their regular harness.
I can't imagine what whould happen in a car accident, those poor babies would be on the loose and GONE if not restrained. Its not going to hurt them, not to be able to see out the window. We have our girls in our grandaughters old carseat and it works out fine. They both sit in it and have enjoyed all the rides, they can even see whats passing by. They can't jump over the side of the baby seat like they could in one of those so called "for pets" window seats. And I would NEVER attach them to the head rest, if they jumped up on the top of the seat, and accidently fell off to the back, they might be left hanging and you better be alert for that to happen too.
Well, I just thought I'd put in my 2 cents worth here also. I am very against
any dog running loose in a car or riding on laps. That is the most dangerous situation to loose your pet. PLEASE RESTRAIN THEM IN VEHICLES, they will live longer.
