Females are spayed and males are neutered. Only females go into heat. Neutering may or may not stop a male from marking. In a spay a females ovaries are removed. In a neuter a males testicles are removed. Breeders who spay or neuter the pups before the buyer gets them usually does it so they know the dog wont be bred. I dont think there are any health problems with spaying or neutering early
