Obviously everyone here will agree that it is absolutely insane for someone to give a yorkie meds for it to stay small, and it is insane for someone to sacrifice health for size and charge $10,000 for them. Other than that, different strokes for different folks...some people really don't care what size their yorkie will be (they chose based on personality, color, they really like the breeder, etc.) and some people just prefer smaller yorkies (for various reasons, maybe the owner's health, maybe lifestyle, and really don't care what its personality or color will be) and are willing to pay big bucks for one. I am not ashamed to admit that after having large yorkies all my life (12 pounds and 15 pounds) that I wanted one that was smaller, and I was willing to pay more to get one. Hobbs will probably only be 3 lbs full grown and he is the perfect size for us at this stage in our life. AND we are getting another yorkie in July from his same parents...which will probably be 3-4 lbs full grown. But these are extremely healthy yorkies, and obviously I am NOT willing to sacrifice health for size. I don't know anyone anywhere that would want an unhealthy small yorkie instead of a healthy big yorkie. Granted, there are first time yorkie owners out there who don't do their research and end up with unhealthy small yorkies. But, is there really anything we can do about that?? If someone is buying a $10,000 unhealthy tiny yorkie, they obviously aren't members of YorkieTalk. These people may come to YT seeking our help while they are coping with their bad decision. I think that we should be kind and be there for them instead of bashing them. Everyone makes mistakes. Unless someone is trying to intentionally harm their yorkie for it to stay small, or is breeding unhealthy yorkies so they will stay small, is this really something we need to be getting worked up over?? I think we all should just play nice and agree to disagree. |
