Can you try feeding 1/2 of the meal twice a day? Loki eats breakfast and dinner. Give them maybe 8 hours apart and then move them forward or back based on what happens. Like, maybe if he's eating in the morning now, and you start to feed him at night, he will not have to poop until the next morning Try rotating until it works. Also, how old is he, and how big? 1 cup sounds like an awful lot. I feed Loki about the same amount of Canidae as when he was on NB, and it's about 1/2 cup a day. And he is almost 10 pounds. Maybe if you are feeding him too much, he has to poop a lot. Also, Loki used to poop 3-4 times a day until he was about 6 months old, then 3 times a day until he was about 8 months old. Now it's twice a day for sure.

Free feeding makes it hard to predict when your dog will need to poop. If he's pooping on his last walk of the day, then again at night, then you probably need to adjust when and how much you feed him. I hope this helps!
