If you are looking for show/breeding then it is important to make sure the ears are up. 8 wks is waaay too young to be certain the puppy will meet all the criteria for a show prospect. 6 months and older is when you can be certian of the end result.
I am starting to down the long road of showing. I am in the early learning stages. I do have several mentors and they gave me a very good tip when selecting a show prospect Yorkie..it's the 3 fault rule. If the Yorkie you are looking to purchase or hold back from a litter of your own has more than 3 faults then then you should pass. As for showing, if you see 3 faults, the judge will see more. Referring to breeding, more than 3 faults is going to be very challenging to breed out and correct in your lines.
Now! what faults can you live with and which ones you can't. IMO that's personal preference. I am talking confirmation faults NOT health big diffrence..

Whew!! So sorry to ramble..I should have warned you guys I am a talker/preacher..ROFL...

Good luck in your search!

Yorkie hugs,
Irene
